Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Mobile Computing Technician is primarily responsible for hardware repairs of notebook and desktop computers for students, faculty, and staff. This position will also work with vendors on project support, parts procurement, and other hardware maintenance services. In addition, the technician will provide general first-level technical support for the Babson community, including assistance with basic software functions of the primary supported software. The Mobile Computing Technician is an experienced hardware and software troubleshooter.

Essential Responsibilities

? Deliver high quality technical support, including accurate problem identification, proper logging of problem type, and timely escalation if necessary.
? Responsible for the primary coverage of walk-in support, including handling telephone calls, logging calls in the trouble tracking system, and performing advanced problem resolution.
? Provide complete backup support for junior staff.
? Responsible for all aspects of hardware repair on campus laptop and desktop computers. This includes problem diagnosis, parts ordering, documentation, and final repair.
? Manage written/verbal communications with end users regarding problem resolution status, upcoming system changes, ITSD policies, and any other important messages or announcements.
? Track and manage both inventory and trouble tickets using the Service Center software and hardware tools.
? Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum Experience

? At least 1-3 years of experience in direct technical support
? Proven knowledge and support experience on the Microsoft and Apple platforms.
? Experience in technical support, particularly in desktop hardware, operating system, LAN, and web-based technologies
? Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
? Advanced hardware and software troubleshooting and repair skills
? Ability to work independently and as part of a team
? Ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies

? Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver?s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Babson?s insurance carrier
? A+ certification
