Fez, April 3, 2013

A Senegalese student has just died in Fez and the Senegalese diplomatic representatives are allegedly unwilling to respond to the demands of the Senegalese community in Fez for the repatriation of the corpse to Senegal.

According to Mamadou War, a Senegalese student at the University of Fez, ?This is not the first time? that his country?s authorities have refused to repatriate the corpse of a deceased Senegalese student.

?Recently another Senegalese student died in Rabat who was finally buried there because the Senegalese community in Morocco lacked the means to send the corpse back to Senegal,? he told Morocco World News.

Now the Senegalese students in Fez (UGESM Union General des Etudiants et Stagaires au Maroc) say it will stage a demonstration in front of the Senegalese Embassy in Rabat if their demand goes unanswered.

?When we call the Senegalese diplomatic representatives they either do not answer the phone, or they just hang up,? the President of UGESM told Morocco World News.

?We will do what it takes to collect the needed money to repatriate the corpse to Senegal.
