UMaine Trustees to Vote on New Southern Maine President

University of Maine System trustees are voting on a new president at the University of Southern Maine.

Trustees are voting at a meeting Monday in Bangor.

Chancellor James Page is recommending that trustees approve the appointment of Theodora Kalikow to head USM. Kalikow stepped down last month from the University of Maine at Farmington, where she was president for 18 years.

Page is also recommending that trustees appoint Selma Botman, the USM president the past four years, as special assistant to the chancellor on global education, in charge of international programs and students at the university system's universities.

The University of Maine system includes seven universities with a total enrollment of more than 40,000 students.
